The needle size debate is going - I read a few articles on the Knitty techniques archive re: felting. The suggestion there is go with needles that are a bit larger. I have felted before, one item, and I used Paton's Classic Merino w/ size 11's. I was satisfied w/ how the fabric turned out. I have yarn that is a bit thicker (better quality) this time around, but I don't think I'll use the 11's. I'm going to go with 8's and see how we go.
OK, now, why I am procrastinating:
1) The bottom of the bag with DPNs are a little scary. I need to get the yarn and needles together in the same room and start working. 2) It's been VERY warm here in the Pac NW. Warmer than our temperately-adjusted bodies are used to. It rarely gets to 90 - and usually doesn't hover - so the past 3-4 days have been very rough. Hot weather doesn't inspire a lap full of wool...
Today is cooling off a bit, upper 80's instead. The bag won't knit itself (wish I was in one of the Harry Potter books and could enchant the needles!) so I need to get myself moving along on that.
Good luck, all, let's keep each other motivated.
